In Wanderings: Exercises in Mourning, Heidi Landau has transformed the mental process of bereavement into a concrete experience. By turning a burden into a tangible object or physical act, the artist is able to experiment with and record what happens when one dwells on a subject of heartache. Through a series of performances, collections and mark-makings, Landau provides the audience with visible evidence of methods of mourning and raises questions about their effectiveness.
